A Meditation of Beginnings

Here is a guided meditation as a tool to slow down the monkey mind and prepare for the new year.

Sit comfortably in a meditative pose, straightening your spine and relaxing into your seat. Breathe deeply into the bottom of your belly, the core of your being and continue breathing naturally.

Visualize yourself in a peaceful place that brings you comfort and helps you feel calm. By the sea, in a forest, by a river, wherever brings you joy. Begin to step forward knowing that each step is secure and supported. As you walk take in your surroundings. Hear the rush of the wind, the current in the water, the movement of the leaves, the birds in the sky. Feel the sun on your face and the sensations of your body. This is your place.

As you walk you begin to notice, you are not sure where you are going or where you are at. Your steps become less sure and your surroundings are no longer familiar. You are reaching the end of your comfort zone. Keep on walking.

As you reach the very limit of your comfort zone someone appears in front of you. They are walking toward you and as they get closer, you begin to see it is someone you know. Someone who always made you feel loved or at ease. This person doesn’t speak but smiles and holds out their hand. You know you are safe with them so you reach out and as your hand touches theirs, you are pulled forward. With each step, a colourful block flies to land underneath your foot to hold you steady and support you. You are still holding the person’s hand and with each step the next step becomes visible to you, and the next, and the next. Although the familiar setting of before is long behind you, you feel safe, comfortable, supported and loved.

At points you take breaks, taking in the view, hearing the sounds, feeling the sensations and then you step forward again. Not worrying about the map but enjoying the road.

When you feel you need to take a break, this is the place to stop for now. This is where you thank your guide who helped you and loved you through this part of your journey. This is where you can rest for a while and learn something new. This place is where your next steps on your life journey will be presented to you when you are ready to start again. Sometimes you will take two steps and sometimes you will take twenty. Whether you are moving forward in love, relationships, a new home or your career, you can return here at any time to see the next step to take.

Breathe back into your body. Wiggle your fingers and toes and bring your insights, wisdom and guidance back with you to move forward on your journey in whatever adventure awaits you next.

Lot’s of Love,

Charissa
